Summer is grinding to a halt

Yes the summer vacation is soon to be over.

That means I go back to work and I will get back on track posting stuff on the blog.

Not sure how those two things are connected but for some reason they are. When im on vacation, even at home, im to lazy to write stuff.

So I been fiddling about with 6th edition.

Lots of lists and lots of ideas. But mostly I been rules testing and trying to remember everything.

So far I havent remembered every single rule in a single game yet. But im sure im getting there.

Eventually.

Since Im of the oppinion that Dark eldars took a hit in power, in the regards, that everything else got better and they didnt Im playing with the forces of entropy and despair.

My chaos marines and daemons!

Also waiting for the love to flow my way from Games workshop.

My Black Legion is waiting to unleash another black crusade on all my unsuspecting mates.

In the mean time it seems that GW is finally manning up and updating stuff (in this case Chaos Daemons) in White Dwarf. Which got me to buy my first White Dwarf in 19 years.

More on the updated daemons in my next post. Right now I want to talk about a fun little 2000 point list im gonna play. Its not superduper optimized, more of a thematic list that I think could be fun to play.

The main force is Chaos Daemons:

2 Heralds of Tzeentch
- chariot, master of sorcery, we are legion, bolt of tzeentch

6 Bloodcrushers
- fury, instrument, icon
2x 6 Fiends
- unholy strenght

2x 5 Horrors
- bolt of Tzeentch
5 Plaguebearers

Daemon prince
- flight, mark of tzeentch, bolt of tzeentch

So this force consists of some beasts that will go over the field fast, some durable crushers and heralds and horrors for enemy vehicles. The plaguebearers are for sitting on an objective. The daemon prince is a flyer and he is funny. The one game I tested him he was gliding around vector striking one vehicle and bolting another.

But that is not everything. Because the allies come in the shape and form of my Chaos space marines.

Sorcerer
- mark of tzeentch, bolt of tzeentch, warptime

5 Chosen
- icon of chaos glory, 3 meltaguns
- rhino

5 Chaos space marines
- meltagun
- rhino

5 Havocs
- 4 missile launchers

And ofcourse the lynchpin of it all.

Aegis defense line
- comms relay.

My chaos marines and havocs deploy on the defense line. Preferably on an objective (with skyfire pretty please). They need to hold it until turn two. For this im gonna use the rhino for added cover and being out of sight. This lets me reroll the reserve rolls. That pretty much ensures everything will get down.

Im gonna stick the Sorcerer with the 5 ordinary chaos marines and give him two powers from the telepathy discipline. I want Dominate and puppetmaster and and since there is only 4 warp charge 1 powers im pretty sure I will get at least one. And the primaris power is pretty decent to fall back on.

Now for a little interesting tidbit. Assuming tzeentch sorceres get to be mastery level two or more eventually, he might also get access to invisibility and hallucination. Consider an invisible crusher or fiend unit assaulting something ....... battlebrothers for the win!

The chosen as the rules are now outflank. But hoping and sacrificing livestock for daemons being able to deep strike safely around chaos marine icons i have given them an icon. So assuming I go first the chosen infiltrates within 12/18 inches of the enemy. If I go second they still outflank. I rather doubt they will survive being infiltrated infront of the opposition with an icon.

Thats all for now.
/Peace out

League match 5 pregame thoughts

So  tomorrow is my 5th league match.

I know I never got around to posting my fourth match against Thomas´ Blood Angels. Work caught up with me and then vacation.

The match was one of those where everything went wrong for me. I even made rookie mistake I usually dont make.
Anyways the match ended with me getting wiped of the board in turn 5.

And now that I had some vacation time to shrug that defeat off its time to face the swarm.

Earlier I faced the horde in the guise of Alexanders Orks. This time its the swam led by Jon. Jon plays a Tyranid list with five big critters and lots of infiltrators.

This game will be played using 5th edition rules as will the 6th and final match in the league.

The list

Tervigon, catalyst + adrenal glands, cluster spines, scything talons
Tervigon, catalyst + adrenal glands, cluster spines

2x 16 Genestealers

2x 3 hive guards
9 Ymgarl genestealers

Trygon, adrenal glands
Trygon
Tyrannofex + rupture cannon+ cluster spines

Pre game analysis

As with the game against the orks, I believe I have an edge from the get go. My Venoms are perfect for dealing with Tyranids since vehicles are not an issue and my poisoned shots will wound anything on 4+.

The issue is not getting cornered by Stealers or Trygons or getting within range of the Hive guards. If I can avoid that my target priority should be pretty straight forward.

The Tervigons, the Tyrannofex and the Stealers.

The Tervigons because they will be spawning additional critters to flood the field. I dont want that happening as it will limit where I can move.
The Tyrannofex because it is the only thing that can kill my flyers from a range and finally the Genestealers because they are fast and pack enough attacks to glance and rend my skimmers to death.

So my target priority being set theres another factors to take into account. Movement.

Usually my movement against mech armies is done as to avoid part of their armies, denying them targets or range with part of their force.
This is not what I wanna do against a Tyranid force. Here I want to split up and divide their critters over as much of the board as possible. Should they get one Venom cornered they are far away from the others.

Look back thursday for a report on how the battle went.

Im on vacation the next two weeks

The next two weeks, starting friday, im out of town.

I will bring my 6th edition rulebook and Ipad, so there might be an update or two concerning the armies I play (Dark eldar, Chaos marines, Chaos daemons and Grey Knights). But no promises.
